The Accountant 3 maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. This position safeguards the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.Acts as a liaison between vendors, contractors, UM Purchasing, UM Accounts Payable, client financial representatives, and project managers to ensure all financial activities related to projects are accurate at all times.Resolves any discrepancies or issues related to invoices in coordination with vendors and project managers.Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with project managers to review project financials.Provides insights and updates on project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance.Assists project managers and their project assistants in the closeout process by maintaining the internal financial reports, preparing, and posting journal entries.Prepares detailed reconciliation reports and presents findings to management.Manages the financial closeout process for projects, ensuring all financial obligations are met.Coordinates with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure all project costs are accounted for.Ensures proper documentation and archiving of project financial records.Generates and analyzes financial reports related to project performance.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial regulations and standards.Provides support during internal and external audits related to project financials.CORE QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in relevant fieldMinimum 5 years of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.Any relevant education, certifications, and/or work experience may be considered.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission, and more.Patient safety is a top priority.
