We operate in a collaborative environment with a flat organizational structure and expect a high degree of integrity, autonomy, and creativity from all members of the team.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary IT resource, handling a wide range of technical responsibilities critical to the startup's operations.Identify, assess, and manage external consultants or vendors for specialized tasks outside of core expertise.Infrastructure Setup & Management:Design, implement, and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud services.Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of all IT systems.Security & Compliance:Establish and maintain robust cybersecurity protocols to protect company assets and customer data.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including data privacy laws.Vendor & Consultant Management:Identify areas requiring specialized expertise and hire/manage consultants or vendors as needed.Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee the quality of their deliverables.IT Support & Troubleshooting:Provide day-to-day IT support to the team, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.Create IT hardware program for managing and distributing assets.Develop and implement processes for efficient IT support and issue resolution.Data Management & Backup:Implement and manage data storage solutions, ensuring secure and efficient data handling.Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.Collaboration Tools & Software:Select, deploy, and manage collaboration tools (e.g., project management, communication platforms) that align with the company’s needs.Ensure smooth integration and user adoption of these tools.Future Planning & Scalability:Assess current and future IT needs, making recommendations for scalable solutions as the company grows.Stay informed of emerging technologies and trends relevant to the company’s industry.General:Strong self-direction with the ability to assess the current environment, identify priorities, and independently drive initiatives to completion.Minimum Qualifications8 years experience in IT operationsSpecific knowledge of several IT domainsDemonstrated experience in managing IT infrastructure in a startup or small business environment.Effective problem-solving skills with the capability to make strategic decisions about when to leverage external expertise.Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Aptitude for working independently and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Preferred QualificationsUp to 12 years experience in IT operationsBroad knowledge across multiple IT domains, including networking, cybersecurity, cloud services, and hardware/software integration.Compensation$100,000 - $125,000 a year

Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.Work EnvironmentHybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
