We are seeking a Data Engineer to advance FanDuel’s data capabilities and contribute to the further growth and maturity of our Data Team.As a Data Engineer, you will be a valued member of the team, maintaining exceptional standards and servicing all the needs of data consumers across the company. Your role will be to provide first-tier engineering capabilities to ensure the health of our data infrastructure, contribute to the delivery of reliable, timely, and consumable data for all company data consumers.THE GAME PLANProactively monitor internal channels and system dashboards to identify data issues, escalating appropriately to ensure timely communication and resolution of production incidents within SLAs.Provide on-call technical assistance to data engineering teams, responding to inquiries relating to query optimization, reporting anomalies or complex data pipeline issues.Proactively monitor systems health for Kafka, Airflow, Redshift & Databricks acting for performance mitigation (i.e. termination of long running queries) and error debugging on workflows and jobs.Administer account access across the technology stack in accordance with SoX governance policies.Create and maintain technical support documentation, including frequently asked questions (FAQs), troubleshooting steps, support runbooks and knowledge base of solutions to recurring issues.Driving operational best practices and shaping workflows for routine consumer support, operations monitoring, incident management, and problem management.Assist in ensuring compliance of data services and systems with internal/external audits and control practices.Own and coordinate issues across multiple time zones, bringing continuity of coverage to the Data tribe.THE STATSWhat we're looking for in our next teammate:Preferred skills:Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to get to the root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.A customer-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering high-quality support services and attention to detail.Experience with real-time technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis.Experience with AWS Redshift or Databricks.Experience in Spark, either on Databricks, AWS or Azure.Strong SQL knowledge and query performance tuning.Exposure to database design & performance analysis.Understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT processing.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Desired skills:Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Looker.Experience with batch data ingestion.Experience in other programming languages such as Java.Exposure to streaming processing technologies.Exposure to orchestration and monitoring tools, such as Airflow, Datadog or Databand.Exposure to Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery tools, such as BuildKite or Github Actions.PLAYER BENEFITSFrom our many opportunities for professional development to our generous insurance and paid leave policies, we’re committed to making sure our employees get as much out of FanDuel as we ask them to give.
