Performs extra-corporeal circulation using heart-lung machines and ancillary related devices for medical and surgical support. Performs extracorporeal circulation using heart-lung machines during various cardiac surgeries to allow cardiac surgeons to focus on performing procedures. Performs cardio-pulmonary perfusions in various cardiac surgeries to ensure patients' circulatory and respiratory needs are met. Operates heart-lung machines and other relevant equipment for cardio-pulmonary perfusion. Monitors, calibrates and maintains devices according to relevant standards. Monitors a spectrum of physiologic parameters and copes with emergency situations during cardio-pulmonary perfusion procedures. Adheres to quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure accurate and safe practices in cardiopulmonary perfusion. Operation of blood salvage and blood hemoconcentration devices (Cell Saver/Hemoconcentrator).In addition, the clinical perfusionist often functions in supportive roles for other medical specialties. Manages HIPEC pumping and heating systems for general surgical chemotherapy treatments. Also, involved in the setup, priming, initiation, and trouble-shooting of ECMO for cardiac and/or pulmonary support of patients outside of the operation room environment. Ability to provide perfusion and perfusion related services to a variety of medical/surgical patients. Ability to communicate with patients, family members and others on health care team. Ability to solve problems. Ability to document clearly and communicate in writing. Ability to perform and evaluate laboratory tests. Ability to manage fluids, blood, and electrolyte therapy. Ability to monitor and support patients using current perfusion techniques. Ability to work with growth and develop needs of all client populations. Maintains patient perfusion needs. Ability and willingness to accommodate on-call rotations and responsibilities.Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited perfusion program required.Board eligible for certification or certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) with subsequent annual recertification within one year of hire preferred.
