DescriptionReports to – Assistant ControllerJob Summary: The Accounting Associate will provide top quality customer service and attention to both internal and external customers while supporting the accounting, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable functions. This will directly contribute to NEFCO’s mission of exceeding our customers' highest expectations by ensuring that our financial records are complete and accurate.Job Duties:Aid with the accounts receivable function within the organization.Perform accounting functions as assigned, including recording journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of monthly closing schedules or worksheets.Manage centralized cash system, including monthly bank reconciliations and updating cash management worksheets.Assist with expense report process, including reconciling corporate credit card statements and processing employee reimbursements.Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.Maintain vendor and customer accounts, including setups, terminations, and modifications.Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.Assist with reconciling cash by collaborating with accounting team members.Route incoming correspondence and calls to the appropriate team members.RequirementsQualifications:Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.FLSA:This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime.
