With multiple legal entities and offices across Canada, the United States, Spain, and Germany, we are seeking a dedicatedAssistant Controllerto join our finance team and support our continued growth and success.

As theAssistant Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, managing all aspects of accounting such as payables, receivables, payroll, internal and external audits, global tax compliance, and financial reporting activities across our various legal entities. You will own the entire accounting cycle and ensure the timely completion of financial month-end closings for all legal entities.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all legal entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to senior management on financial performance, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the develop financial forecasts, budgets, and strategic plans.


Compliance and Taxation:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, financial covenants, and statutory requirements in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits, reviews, provisions, and tax filings.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry and geographic regions of operation.
  • Manage and own all external parties' relationships such as authorities and advisors involving compliance and tax matters


Financial Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash flow management and treasury functions.
  • Serve as key user in Netsuite ERP system and maintains ownership of chart of accounts and finance module setup
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the finance function.
  • Integrate and streamline financial operations of subsidiaries and acquired business.


Intercompany Transactions and Consolidation:

  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations to ensure accurate consolidation of financial results across multiple legal entities.
  • Work closely with partners across finance teams to streamline intercompany processes and resolve any discrepancies.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, client services, and legal departments, to support business initiatives and address financial implications.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to support strategic decision-making and business growth initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, analysis, and accounting operations, preferably within a multinational organization.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, IFRS, and US GAAP; familiarity with international accounting standards is an asset.
  • Experience managing financial operations across multiple legal entities and geographic regions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills including SQL Queries and Macros.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, take accountability and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
