Reporting to the Chief of Intelligence, this

Operations Specialist

position is responsible for investigations as they relate to Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR), anonymous complaints, Security Risk Groups (SRG), Hotline information, and follow up to investigations. This position is assigned to NC Department of Adult Correction, Special Operations and Intelligence Unit (SOIU) and is located at the Yonkers Road Complex in Raleigh, NC. This position will be instrumental in investigating inmate and staff incidents originating in Institutions.Job duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:Conducting investigations at the direction of the Special Operations Chiefs and the Special Operations Director, while using the skills of the criminal analysts and the inmate telephone investigators as sources for the SpecialistPlanning, coordinating and organizing special projects such as targeted searches, escapes, and known issues within the Department of Adult CorrectionResponsible for drafting complete and concise reports regarding threats assessed by SOIU and disseminating those reports through the chain of command and with institutions leadershipServes as a liaison between Adult Corrections and outside law enforcement entities in providing assistance in ongoing investigations involving DAC inmatesAssisting all sections within SOIU in order to accomplish the mission of the section and will operate without direct supervision on occasionThis is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Note: Must live within 50 miles of their duty station within 90 days of employment.

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of supervisory, administrative or consultative experience in corrections or related work; high school and three years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level (OR) an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Operations and Intelligence Unit (SOIU)

is solely responsible for managing operational procedures and processing intelligence that affects the general public, staff, and offenders. It plays a crucial role in identifying appropriate goals, objectives, standards, strategies, and technologies to be used. Additionally, it coordinates and directs the activities of both Prisons and Community Supervision staff while overseeing the collection, analysis, and sharing of intelligence. The division of SOIU ensures the safety and security of prisons and communities.
