Job Details

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Permanent Senior Underwriter. This exciting role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team responsible for managing risk and ensuring the financial health of our company. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications and determining coverage amounts and premiums. Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate insurance applications to determine coverage amounts and premiums.
  2. Conduct a risk assessment to identify potential exposures and mitigate losses.
  3. Work closely with agents and brokers to negotiate policy terms and conditions.
  4. Analyze statistical data using risk-assessment software to determine the likelihood of a claim.
  5. Review insurance claims and decide whether they should be approved or denied based on policy coverage.
  6. Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and procedures.
  7. Collaborate with other departments to develop new insurance products and improve existing ones.
  8. Stay up-to-date with insurance regulations, industry trends, and catastrophic events that may impact underwriting decisions.
  9. Provide training and guidance to junior underwriters.
  10. Manage client relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience as an underwriter, with a focus on risk assessment, insurance claims, and catastrophe.
  3. Proficiency in risk-assessment software and statistical analysis.
  4. Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and procedures.
  5. Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent negotiation and customer service skills.
  7. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  8. Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior underwriters.
  9. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
  10. Professional insurance designation, such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), is preferred.
