Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join our team. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in our company's growth and success. You will be a part of a fast-paced and collaborative environment where your expertise in underwriting will be highly valued. Your role will involve assessing risks, setting premiums, and determining the terms of coverage for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluating insurance applications to determine the risk involved in insuring a potential client. This includes analyzing various data and conducting thorough risk assessments.
  2. Determining appropriate premiums and amounts of coverage based on risk assessment.
  3. Collaborating with brokers and agents to gather all necessary information for policy issuance.
  4. Reviewing and updating underwriting policies and guidelines to ensure they align with company objectives and industry best practices.
  5. Managing the loss control process by identifying potential areas of loss and implementing strategies to minimize risk.
  6. Providing expert advice and guidance to junior underwriters and other team members.
  7. Staying current with market trends and regulations to ensure our underwriting strategies are competitive and compliant.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Insurance Underwriter, with a strong background in risk assessment, loss control, underwriting policies, and analysis.
  2. A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)) would be a plus.
  3. Excellent analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to make sound decisions based on data.
  4. Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate terms with brokers and clients.
  5. Solid understanding of insurance laws, regulations, and market trends.
  6. Proficiency in using underwriting software and other related IT systems.
  7. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and with clients.
  8. High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to upholding the company's values and ethical standards.
