Job Details

Position Overview: The Commodity Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of commodity accounting, including transaction processing, financial reporting, and compliance. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of commodity markets, accounting principles, and agricultural economics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, advanced analytical skills, and a strategic mindset to optimize financial performance and ensure accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Oversight: Manage the end-to-end accounting process for commodity transactions, including acquisitions, inventory management, pricing, and sales. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all commodity-related financial activities.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and review detailed financial statements, reports, and analyses related to commodity operations. Provide insights into financial performance, trends, and variances.

Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, pricing dynamics, and industry developments. Use this knowledge to guide financial decisions and strategies related to commodity management.

Compliance and Controls: Ensure adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal control policies. Conduct periodic audits and implement necessary improvements to maintain financial integrity.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and oversee commodity budgets and financial forecasts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial planning with operational objectives and market conditions.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of commodity accounting processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of accountants and financial analysts. Provide training, support, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and cohesive team environment.

Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key liaison between the finance department and other business units, such as procurement, logistics, and sales. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commodity accounting or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Experience in the agriculture industry is highly desirable.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of commodity accounting principles, market dynamics, and agricultural economics.

Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
