A law firm seeks a skilled and experienced Tax Controversy Associate Attorney to represent clients in federal and state tax controversies. The role involves handling a wide range of tax matters, including voluntary disclosures, audits, appeals, and collections. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in tax controversy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex cases.Duties:Represent clients in federal and state tax controversies, including voluntary disclosures, audits, and tax court matters.Manage cases involving appeals, fast-track mediation, amnesty filings, and collections.Conduct research, draft legal documents, and prepare responses to governmental authorities.Review and analyze federal and state income tax returns, international informational reporting forms, and associated documentation.Distill and summarize pertinent information, interpret tax laws, and resolve clients' tax issues related to individual, entity, trusts & estates, and international matters.Build rapport with IRS agents and other governmental personnel to negotiate favorable settlements.Utilize Microsoft Excel for projecting tax, interest, and penalty assessments and produce entity and flow charts using Microsoft PowerPoint.Requirements:2-6 years of experience in tax controversy, either with a law or CPA firm.Demonstrable experience with tax court clerkships, IRS representation, or government agencies in a civil or criminal tax capacity.Experience with international tax and reporting, including FBARs, PFICs, CFCs, and FATCA.Ability to manage multiple cases and meet filing deadlines.Strong research, drafting, analytical, communication, and project management skills.Competency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.Education and Certifications:JD required; LLM, CPA, or MS Tax is a plus.Admitted to the CT Bar (or other state and willing to take/waive into the CT Bar).Location:Boston, MassachusettsCompany info:BCG Attorney Search225 Franklin Street, 26th floorBoston, MassachusettsUnited States 02110Phone:
