Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a Tax Controversy Associate Attorney to represent clients in federal and state tax controversies. This role will involve managing voluntary disclosure cases, audits, appeals, mediation, amnesty filings, and other tax-related matters.Duties:Represent clients in tax controversy cases, including audits, appeals, and mediation.Manage voluntary disclosure cases, including streamlined foreign offshore filings and IRS Criminal Investigation Voluntary Disclosure Practice submissions.Handle tax court cases, collections, and competent authority requests.Prepare written responses to governmental authorities and resolve clients' tax issues.Review federal and state income tax returns and international informational reporting forms.Interpret tax laws and prepare documentation for various tax matters.Build rapport with IRS agents and other governmental personnel to favorably settle client tax matters.Utilize Microsoft Excel for tax, interest, and penalty assessments and Microsoft PowerPoint for entity and flow charts.Requirements:2-6 years of experience in a law or CPA firm, with demonstrable tax controversy experience.Experience with tax court clerkships, IRS audits, voluntary disclosures, or collections matters.International tax experience (e.g., FBARs, PFICs, CFCs) is a plus.Proficient in reviewing tax returns and associated documentation.Education:JD required; LLM, CPA, or MS in Taxation preferred.Admitted to the CT Bar or willing to take/waive into the CT Bar.Certifications:CPA or other relevant certifications are a plus.Skills:Strong research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills.Excellent project management and organizational abilities.Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.Comfortable with phone, video, and in-person communication with government officials and clients.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Job Location:Company infoBCG Attorney Search125 Park Avenue, 25th floorNew YorkNew YorkUnited States 10017Phone :
