- Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
- Provide legal advice to clients on issues such as business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
- Conduct research and analysis of legal problems to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Negotiate settlements in civil disputes, working towards mitigation to avoid lengthy court proceedings.
- Handle all IRS related matters, including audits, collections, and appeals.
- Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
- Manage and oversee paralegals and legal assistants.
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney, with a strong background in litigation, IRS dealings, mitigation, and legal drafting.
- Active membership in good standing with a State Bar.
- Proven track record of achieving positive results for clients.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Proficient in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong work ethic, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
