Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Represent landlords and tenants in complex real estate litigation matters
  • Handle evictions, lease disputes, and rent regulation issues
  • Draft and review legal documents related to real estate transactions and litigation
  • Appear in housing court and other relevant forums to advocate for clients
  • Provide counsel on New York real estate laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in real estate law
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff on high-profile cases

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
  • 4-5+ years of experience in real estate litigation, with a focus on landlord/tenant law
  • Strong knowledge of New York City and State housing laws and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of success in housing court proceedings
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with both residential and commercial real estate matters

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with New York City's rent stabilization and rent control laws
  • Experience in handling complex real estate transactions and disputes
  • Knowledge of condominium and cooperative law
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
