Job Summary

As the Assistant Controller you will provide assistance to the Controller on all financial-related tasks. You will assist with the accounting, planning, and manufacturing analysis needs within our manufacturing, marketing, and sales functions. Your key to success with this position will be to effectively partner with the operations to ensure financial goals are consistently met. In partnership with the Controller you will own the local accounting functions and assist in ensuring all necessary financial controls are in place and followed. Key elements include operational knowledge, solid understanding of cost accounting, leadership, and overall business acumen.

Responsibilities And Activities

Serves as advisor for local management, driving an understanding of the financial aspects of business decisions including cost accounting.

Completes various activities associated with accounting close of the business for all reporting cycles.

Assists the Controller by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, billing, payroll and financial reporting functions.

Works with the Controller to generate internal financial reports for the business.

Guides and assists other departments by clearly communicating current accounting and budgeting policies and procedures as well as composing and disseminating new procedures and policies as required.

Assists with budget and forecasting functions within the business unit; including the delivery of accurate projections, including.

Assists with tracking and communicating major trends and changed to budget and forecast expectations; analyzing and reporting variances.

Assists with local portion of audit process, interfacing with external auditors in year-end and interim audit requirements.

Assists with key analyses and risk assessments of forecast submissions.

Work collaboratively with Controller to drive additional system and reporting integration across the business to improved quality, usefulness and timeliness of information.

Researches accounting issues for compliance with GAAP.

Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the team's success.

Qualifications

Education

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5+ years progressive experience in accounting with a strong foundation in financial reporting, general ledger management, and financial analysis.

Minimum of 3+ years overseeing accounting teams and coordinating multi-departmental accounting processes.

Manufacturing accounting experience highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software.

Solid knowledge of GAAP

Excellent knowledge of account and financial processes.

Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.

Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.

Very strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Problem-solving ability.

Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.
