Job Description:Pay is determined by relevant experience, work history, education and internal equities. The average pay for this position is 32.00 for fully licensed and 27.00 for provisionally licensed.

1) Job Purpose

The Trauma Therapist is responsible for providing services to both the Helping through Intervention and Prevention (HIP)program and the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program.

Primary responsibilities are with the HIP program where the Therapist supports the parent-child relationship within the routines and activities occurring in the family's natural environment. Eligibility for HIP includes: families whose parental rights have been relinquished/terminated due to previous abuse and or neglect; families who previously had a child pass away with the cause identified as abuse or neglect; and current or former foster youth who are pregnant or parenting. The Therapist implements the Nurturing Parent Program and Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI) using coaching as the primary teaching/interacting style. Observation and demonstration strategies during routines and activities are utilized by the therapist to assist the parent/caregiver in actualizing possible ideas and practicing new strategies. Feedback from the therapist promotes parental growth and learning; and through increased capacity the child's distress and dysregulation is reduced, the child's needs for attachment are met, the parent-child relationship experiences an increase in mutual satisfaction and the child is safe from abuse and neglect.Responsibilities with the ECI program may include organizing and facilitating ECI community groups, parent trainings, family education, early childhood mental health consultation, service coordination and screenings on assessment.The Therapist ensures that all children and families are served according to their plan of care timely, appropriately and in keeping with the family's procedural safeguards, rights and needs.

2) Essential Functions

For birth to approximately 5 years, 11 months, provides routines-based counseling/social emotional support/behavior services in the child's natural environment, home or community settingCommunicates and collaborates effectively on an ongoing basis with, and with guardian consent, with other community entities in order to provide effective support.Attends and effectively participates in team meetings when indicated.Uses a coaching (reflective) adult interaction style with family members to instruct and implement Nurturing Parent and TBRI interventions and strategies, with emphasis on demonstrations and return demonstrations along with creating "felt safety".Teaches, supports and coaches using The Nurturing Parent Curriculum and The In-Home TBRI Manual.Applies and uses the 10 key elements of coaching:Consistent with the principles of adult learningCapacity building: an ongoing process of providing, creating, or mobilizing experiences through which children, parents, families and communities enhance their ability to identify and meet, attachment and development enhancing opportunities or challenges in a sustainable way.Non-directiveGoal orientedSolution focusedPerformance basedReflectiveCollaborativeContext drivenAs hands on as it needs to be (for the adult to learn)Practice and document the research-based characteristics of coachingJoint Planning using the 2-part planObservationAction-practiceReflectionFeedback (affirmative, evaluative and informative)Conducts developmental screenings, perinatal mood and anxiety screenings, routines-based interviews/assessments and pre and post surveys with families for the identified child.Organizes and facilitates Parent Cafes.As experience is gained, provides early childhood mental health consultation to childcare centers, colleagues and families.Maintains and submits required documentation daily. Uses collaborative documentation except when not possible.Organizes and facilitates ECI community groups, ECI parent training and ECI family education.Manages individual caseload in a manner that supports all families enrolled in the HIP program receiving quality services in a timely manner.Perform other job duties or responsibilities as requested or assigned. 4) Internal & External Customer Service

5) Travel

This position requires driving to and from locations for work and/and may require overnight traveling. Employees are required to have a license in good standing and be able to be covered by agency liability insurance. If personal vehicle is utilized for work travel, then maintaining personal auto insurance coverage is required.

Minimum Requirements

Job Requirements:Minimum Education

Master's Degree or Doctorate in Psychology or an LPC, or an LCSW, or an LMFT, or an LPC-A, or an LMSW, or an LMFT-A in related behavioral science from an accredited college/university and current Texas Licensure in applicable field.

Defined Education

Eligible for an Early Intervention Specialist certification.

Re: Licensure - Applicants who meet all requirements for licensure as an LMSW, LPC-I or an LMFT-A who have submitted a valid application to the state in licensure as an LMSW, LMFT-A or LPC-I are eligible.

Pre-employment tests including drug and TB Screening, Physical Exam including balance and lift test.

All staff are required to participate in agency Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety programs and may be assigned by their departments as a key/essential staff level function during critical events or for the purpose of sustaining business continuity.

This position may require temporary or permanent re-assignment to any MHMR Tarrant facility as determined by program needs and /or the Division/Director.

Assigned work hours may change as the needs of the agency change.

The functional Title of this position may change as the needs of the agency change.

All work will be complete within the scheduled work hours. All non-exempt (hourly) employee are expected to clock In and out for each work shift, no work done should be done off the clock.

Prior approval from supervisor is required for all Paid Time Off (PTO) and Overtime.

Agency dress code is to be followed at all times.
