Staff Data Analyst - Medical Economics

The Lead Medical Economics Analyst is responsible for assisting in providing insights, analysis, reports and maintaining analytical findings. The ideal candidate is responsible for transforming data into analytical insights to inform decisions for both internal and external stakeholders. The person in this role will work with healthcare claims data to generate measures of quality, cost and utilization of care and should be comfortable working with large databases using tools such as SQL/SAS, be able to create reports and dashboards using BI tools.
A day in the life!
Primary Responsibilities:
* Filter and clean data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to locate and correct specific issues* Ability to collect, organize and analyze large amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy* Produce spreadsheets, documents and presentations that are well documented and easy to follow* Perform data extraction, generally using SQL* Analyze claims and other healthcare data to identify areas of opportunity and provide analysis, conclusions* Assist in contract reconciliation and monthly/quarterly p* Oversee/participate in the hiring process of all assigned positions in accordance with Company policy and local, state, and federal employment law.* Adheres to the confidentiality of HIPAA-protected health information. Maintains confidentiality of patient information* Uses data to optimize outcomes and organizational success* Responsible for the management of KPIs and quality improvement indicators* Responsible for ensuring excellent customer service to patients, referral partners, and others

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Health Economics, or related field.* 5-10 years of related analytics and/or healthcare data experience.* Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management.* Working knowledge of SQL, Tableau, and/or PowerBI.* Background in Managed Care / Health Plan claims.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience in a role where medical terminology is used extensively.* Health plan experience with Managed Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans preferred.
