Duties & Responsibilities

The Academic Operations IT team in the Office of the Provost is looking for one or more IT Analysts (Junior analyst welcomed) to provide IT support for several hardware and software platforms, including Windows and Apple desktops + laptops, mobile devices, printers, and conference rooms. The position collaborates with team members, customers, vendors, and central VCU Technology Services to ensure the business needs of the unit are met with minimum disruption/downtime.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responding to customer requests, troubleshooting, and providing timely resolution, providing break/fix support, and support of audio and video conferencing spaces as needed.Providing day-to-day support for departmental computing needs, maintenance, and asset management.Developing documentation for systems and services provided to customers.Understand and ensure compliance with information technology and security policies.Other duties may be added and/or assigned as needed.Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and provide even more robust customer service.Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to articulate complex technical information to a wide variety of audiences.Time management skills, organization and punctuality are a must.Ability to function effectively as an integral member of a team.Experience in basic network connectivity and troubleshooting.Must be able to lift and transport moderately heavy computer equipment and other technology.Google Workspace experience and ability to provide training on usage and best practices to users with varying skill levels.A high school diploma or equivalent is required.Proficiency in supporting, configuring, and managing Windows and MacOs computers.Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.Must currently have or be able to obtain Dell TechDirect certification within 3 months of hire. Resources and exams will be provided.Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in relevant computer systems, information systems, or related discipline and/or at least five (5) years of experience in hardware, software, installation, troubleshooting, and consulting with users with varying levels of knowledge.Multi-year experience providing technical support to customers/departments with varying needs.Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, MECM, JAMF, Scripting, and Google Apps workspace tools.A+ preferred.Experience in Higher Education Administrative environments.
