We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized

Family Law Legal Assistant

to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide vital support to our attorneys and assist in the daily operations of the firm.Key Responsibilities:Assist attorneys in all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, custody, support, and restraining orders.Prepare, review, and file legal documents such as petitions, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.Maintain case files and ensure that all documents are organized and up-to-date.Manage attorney calendars, schedule client meetings, court appearances, and deadlines.Communicate with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel to relay information and updates on cases.Conduct basic legal research and gather relevant case information.Draft correspondence, including letters and emails, to clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties.Monitor and track case progress, ensuring timely completion of tasks.Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, managing client intake, and other general office support.Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, in family law.Strong understanding of California family law and court procedures.Proficiency in legal document preparation and filing (both electronic and physical).Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and case management software.High attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.Please send your resume to katherine@matfar.com.Matura Farrington is an EEOC employer and will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance and all other local, state and federal laws.
