This position fulfills a critical administration role for human resources and faculty affairs of the School of Nursing, which is comprised of more than 500 faculty and staff personnel across academic, research, and clinical units. Reporting to the Assistant Director of the School of Nursing HR and Payroll Services (SoN HRPS), the incumbent will work closely with their colleagues to carry out the responsibilities of this position, including but not limited to:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATIONS:

Advise and consult with hiring managers at all levels in matters related to HR management: compensation; performance management; collective bargaining agreements; recruitment and retention; conflict resolution; and organizational structure.Process staff and student employee (ASE, student hourly) recruitments and hires, including permanent and temporary/project appointments.Advise and consult with academic departments on HR/AHR processes to ensure timely, accurate and compliant completion.Facilitate annual merit and performance evaluation processes for all faculty and staff.Prepare and extend offer letters; draft confidential correspondence for SoN leaders.Serve as an approver for HR transactions and system authorizations.Participate in School-wide and campus-wide projects and committees.Oversee and maintain the new faculty appointment process, including records management.Provide guidance and oversight to Staff across the SoN that coordinate activities related to Auxiliary Faculty and ASE appointments.Maintain ASE/AHR documentation, including the SharePoint/Intranet site.Develop and maintain hiring/appointment Checklists and Offer Letter templates.Assist managers with compensation change processes.Ensure that employees are added or removed from Workday as appropriate and resolve discrepancies.Manage and/or establish new employee orientation processes and onboarding activities.EXPERT POLICY/PROCEDURE RESOURCE:

Maintain in-depth and current knowledge of School, University, State and Federal policies related to HR matters.Serve as a resource for departments regarding HR approaches that support SoN’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.COMPLIANCE:

Facilitate and maintain compliant HR processes for all categories of faculty and staff.Develop and maintain compliant ASE standard appointment and reappointment templates.PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

Apply knowledge of the University of Washington and SoN to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SoN HR and Payroll Services.Perform administrative duties as needed.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field; AND 2 to 3 years of related experience.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Thorough knowledge of HR policies and practices.Knowledge and experience with Workday or similar HRIS/payroll system.Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Academic HR policies and procedures.Workday experience within an academic setting.Application Process:
