Under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Communications Manager will develop and lead integrated communications strategies, including social media, editorial content (articles, features, news stories, blogs), website content, annual outcomes reporting, content management, and other relevant communications activities for a diverse internal and external audience. The Communications Manager’s work will play a central role in building awareness of and support for key initiatives and UNMC’s strategic plan. The Communications Manager will assemble and lead a skilled writing and design team and collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement effective communication and marketing strategies.Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required Education:
Communications, Media, English, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fieldRequired Experience:
5 years in integrated communications to include print, digital, analytics, social media, public relations and/or content management.Required License:
NoRequired Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Exceptional communication skills with the ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.Ability to lead the development of integrated media efforts.Systems-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to rapidly recognize, analyze, and resolve issues.Real-world experience in planning, managing, and executing social media initiatives.Preferred Education:
Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations, Instructional Design, Education, Journalism, Training and Development, or related fieldPreferred Experience:
Proven track record of success in leading, developing and implementing an integrated communications strategy. Proven ability to develop content across media, in accordance with strategy. Proven ability to analyze data and outcomes, and adjust ongoing strategies as needed. Proven ability to lead and collaborate with teams across the university.Preferred Other Computer Applications:
Experience with SEO, analytics, content management software, multimedia software.Preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced skills in leadership, project management, content marketing strategies, trends, and technologies.
