POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the Youth Programs Department in the daily operations of the UCC After-School Program, including the daily supervision of High School, Elementary and/or Middle School Students. Leads program activities and promotes a safe and productive atmosphere for students to learn and grow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Follows rules, policies, and regulations as outlined in the organization handbookExecutes written and verbal assignments from supervisor dailySupervises elementary and/or middle school students during field trips, presentations, and in-house activitiesFacilitates and leads group enrichment projects, athletics, team building exercises, workshops, and creative game playAssigns, reviews, evaluates participation and performance and recommends participants for discipline, termination or retentionModels exemplary behavior for elementary, middle, and high school studentsPromotes life and social skills to elementary, middle, and high school studentsFacilitates conflict resolution as necessaryPromotes and ensures the safety of all students and staffKeeps and records accurate daily attendance records for participantsMiscellaneous duties also assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.Demonstrates basic computer, excel, word, and Google Drive knowledgeDemonstrates computer literacy skills, using MS Office, Google applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.Must be honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines.Self-motivated and able to work independently.Qualifications
Ability to take proactive and creative approaches in resolving any challenges presented while on job duty.Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.Present information in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to youth and other employees of the organization.Excellent communication and leadership skills required.Previous experience volunteering or working with youth is strongly desired.Demonstrated evidence of CPR, Concussion, Mandated Reporter, and other licensing led training will be required (UCC will help to identify free/low-cost online courses to complete training).Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in a classroom/school/daycare environment. Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: loud voice during classroom with children playing, recreational activities in outdoor and gym spaces, loud voices during classroom play or during recess).
Shift times during 2:30-5:30pm on school days, 8am-5pm on non-school days10-20 hours per week - schedule to be agreed upon with supervisor
