The Intel Category Manager will be responsible for the sustainable growth of the category and the portfolio of products within the Intelligence and Electronic Warfare segment across all ADS sales channels. An effective Category Manager understands and can articulate their portfolio's position in the market, vendor community and that understanding to revenue. The right candidate will deliver value through the implementation of effective negotiation strategies that reduce both organizational costs and risks while improving vendor performance. Holding vendors accountable and encouraging innovation from the supplier base will be key to success. The Category Manager will build strong partnerships with external/internal stakeholders to identify new opportunities, negotiated cost savings and return profits on time invested. Knowledge/relationships in this supply chain, existing DOD and Fed contracting vehicles will be expected.
NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Generate new opportunities with existing suppliers and existing customersFind and capitalize on "white space" in CategoryProvide leads to sales team and support those leads during initial phases of business development
STRATEGIC PLANNING
Create and execute sales initiatives that bring value and measurable revenue to ADS Sales reps and OEM/vendor baseDevelop and present annual Vendor Plans for suppliers and Sales departmentAssess this plan quarterly and adjust as neededDevelop long term plan for Category growth
VENDOR MANAGEMENT
Negotiate terms with existing suppliers to maximize overall marginMust be extremely well-versed and able to articulate the ADS Value PropositionIdentify new vendors and assess viability for partnershipsTravel to new vendor facilities to assess capability and products and to best understand where ADS can add valueMaintain deep relationships with vendor community - continually reinforce ADS value propositionUnderstand competitive landscape for category, both customer facing and vendor facing
CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
Fully understand existing contracts available in your categorySupport capture efforts for new contracts
Senior Category Managers:
Identify new contracts in your categoryLead capture efforts for those contracts
PRODUCT EXPERTISE
Increase vendor portfolio with emerging tech and sought after equipmentStay abreast of new products in category while keeping existing product offerings freshBe resident expert on product/category trendsMaintain presence within technical community of categoryResearch user requirements to focus on solutions that will yield maximum resultsWork with Training to educate Sales

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree Required5-10 years' experience with US Government contracting and acquisition5 years' experience with IT value added reseller model and sales2 years' successful experience in business development and/or program management3+ years' experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word must be highly proficientMust demonstrate DRIVE and ability to solve problems independently, without promptingMust be HUNGRY to create opportunities and find new businessMust possess strong and fearless negotiations skills while still managing relationships with finesse
ADS experience may be substituted for any of the above at the manager's discretion.
All employees accepting a position as Category Manager will be expected to make an 18-month commitment and may not transfer to another role without approval from the EVP of Sales.
