Occupational Summary

The Office of Treasury Operations serves the University and the Duke University Health System (DUHS). The Treasury Analyst provides technical, analytical, and operational support in the following areas: corporate debt management, external financial and compliance reporting. In performing these functions, the Treasury Analyst works in the Office of Treasury Operations and reports to the Assistant Director, Treasury Operations and working closely with other key administrative, accounting, and financial personnel in the University and DUHS, as well as external consultants and service providers.

Work Performed

Provide technical and operational support to the Assistant Director of Debt Management in the execution and management of:

Internal and external reporting and payment deadlines related to:(a) accrual, allocation and recording of interest and other financing costs;(b) required external debt service payments;(c) required external reporting on the University's debt activity to external debt rating agencies, investment banks, etc.;(d) monthly and annual financial analytical reporting requirements.

Development and maintaining treasury reports for University and compliance reporting from SAP R/4.Debt projection models and budgets for the UniversityInternal reporting and analysis for the University's $800M taxable and tax-exempt commercial paper programs.Management of the University's internal loan and debt service program including accounting and reporting for all loans.Regular monitoring of financial and non-financial debt covenant requirements.The preparation of schedules, notes, descriptive analyses, and other information required from the Treasury Office for the annual Duke University/Health System financial statements.Special projects, such as University bond issues, interest rate swaps, and debt-related derivative transactions

Skills:• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Strong planning, organizational, analytical skills• Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of University employees and external contacts.• Proficiency in using Microsoft products

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles typically acquired through a bachelor's degree in Accounting, or other business-related field. A Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred. Experience with SAP preferred.

Experience

Work generally requires a minimum of 4 years accounting, audit in public accounting environment, or related experience to acquire competence in analyzing and reconciling complex financial accounts and related information, applying general accounting principles and preparing financial reports OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
