Responsibilities

We seek a thoracic oncologist with leadership skills and ambition to expand the Thoracic Oncology program at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. The successful candidate will be able to partner with our internationally recognized surgical, pulmonary, and radiation oncology teams in a multidisciplinary clinic; initiate, run and develop clinical trials; recruit future colleagues and drive innovation across the spectrum of care. The applicant will have the opportunity to teach medical students, residents, and fellows and provide mentorship to early-career faculty. The applicant will be able to expand their academic practice and reputation nationally and internationally with Mayo Clinic’s resources.

Our comprehensive Thoracic Oncology team currently consists of multiple Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Thoracic Surgeons, Pulmonologists, Interventional Radiologists, and Pathologists. Our team constantly seeks to improve care for patients with thoracic malignancies through the development comprehensive integrated multidisciplinary care, rapid molecular testing, and the design and implementation of clinical trials. Mayo Clinic physicians diagnose and treat more than 1,000 patients annually with newly diagnosed lung cancers, mesotheliomas and thymic malignancies. Cancer care at Mayo Clinic is managed collaboratively across the campuses in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota, so the applicant will also have access to the combined resources of the entire Mayo Clinic network. This includes over 200 oncologists and hematologists, CORE research facilities, pathology, electronic clinical records, and over 2,000 faculty involved in cancer care. A strong commitment to integrated clinical research and oncology education is expected. The candidate is expected to build a differentiated practice across all three shields (i.e. Practice, Education, and Research). Protected time for scholarly development will be offered upon hire. The successful applicant will be expected to lead a care team in conjunction with our advanced practice providers. Physicians at all levels of experience are encouraged to apply.

Board eligible or board certified in Medical Oncology. Eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota.
