Banquet & Catering Supervisor Aquarius (Laughlin, NV)
Description:
Summary:
Responsible for assisting the banquet department in all areas of operations up to and including supervision of the captains and servers, specifically in the development and distribution of all pertinent paperwork, handling telephone calls and coordinating the staffing and equipment levels of the function. This is a multiple property position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide courteous and friendly service to all guests and staff
Responsible for overall day-to-day operation, including supervision of Banquet staff and execution of all banquet events.
Must be present in all casino events and major events as determined by the Vice President of Food and Beverage.
Hires, trains, supervises, schedules, develops and disciplines Banquet Department staff to ensure established standards are maintained
Answer banquet/catering phones, answering questions and assisting customers as needed
Retrieve messages from voice mail lines daily (including 800 number voice mail), schedule appointments for clients to inspect function site
Responsible to learn the Delphi system, block banquet space for events, generate and e-mail contracts to clients
Process & record deposits when signed contracts are received, forwarding checks and credit card payments to person/department responsible for inputting
Prepare preliminary Banquet Event Order forms and forward to engagers within (7) days of receipt of deposit
Maintain client/event files and purge outdated files per records retention policy and auditing guidelines
Evaluate client needs and makes recommendations in order to assist clients in establishing requirements for banquet and convention space needs
Send or fax menus and/or confirm menus with clients
Assist clients with any problems or special requests to ensure the best personal service to meet guests' needs
Type menu proposals created by Catering Manager and/or Director
Attend weekly catering meetings
Create appropriate signs for hotel meeting rooms upon receipt of weekly BEO packet and forward to Banquet Manager/Banquet Captain
Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, as they apply to the position
Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company’s guest service culture standards
Assist as a Banquet Server as needed for large events or days with multiple events and extra board servers needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Qualifications
Must have a thorough understanding of all catering menus and banquet room capacities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to perform basic math
Must be able and willing to successfully complete Title 31 annual training
Ability to present self in a professional, pleasant, confident and well-groomed manner
Good organizational and people skills required
Must be skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with guests and staff
At least 21 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
Verify right to work in the United States

Occasionally push/pull up to 40 lbs.
Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs. at floor, knee, waist, and chest levels

Constant use of hearing and vision, distinguish between shades of color, and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
