Job Title: Adjunct, American Sign Language (ASL) Studies- Online
Responsibilities
- Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using relevant scholarly and artistic tools and practices.
- Engage students in critical thinking and advancement of essential communication skills.
- Infuse multicultural perspectives into the instructional process and demonstrate respect for individual and cultural differences.
- Model open-minded inquiry and creative problem-solving.
- Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy.
- Submit syllabi and instructional materials timely.
- Maintain regular communication with students and utilize the Student Success Alert notification process when appropriate.
- Assess student work in a timely manner and submit course grades by the posted deadline.
- Respond to student email inquiries within 24-36 hours.
- Utilize synchronous technology such as Zoom and Blackboard or another LMS to deliver course content.
- Use GoReact for evaluation of student work and provide regular interactions in an online learning environment.
- Apply the L2 approach.
Professional Development
- Seek out current developments within the discipline.
- Identify and implement innovative pedagogical practices.
- Understand and use technology as it applies to pedagogical standards.
- Apply technology or skills to tasks designated by the administration.
Other Expectations
- Participate in New Adjunct Orientation and other professional training provided by the College.
- Collect and submit required student learning outcomes and assessment data.
- Submit required employment documentation timely.
- Complete Title IX Sexual Misconduct and other required training.
- Communicate safety protocols to students during the first class session.
- Understanding of Quality Matters or other online instructional design systems.
- Three years of experience with online instruction.
- Experience with Blackboard and GoReact preferred.
