We are looking for an HR Generalist to join our team in Salem, VA. Our state-of-the-art automotive production facility is serving the needs of a large customer in a fast-paced environment. The HR Generalist acts as a partner to the management team and provides guidance in all HR disciplines including HR Compliance, laws and regulations and business practices. The HR Generalist runs the daily functions of the Human Resources department including administration of benefits and leave as well as enforcing company policies and practices:
- Maintains the company's HRI system including but not limited to entering new pay rates, adjusting employee records, and maintaining employee supervisor information.
- Ensures that HR data on the employee roster is always up to date and makes adjustments in the roster and the HRI system simultaneously and as applicable.
- Manages the company's timekeeping system including the assignment of supervisors, employee groups and schedule maintenance.
- Maintains employee records in the electronic benefits system and reviews and confirms invoices from benefit carriers on a monthly basis.
- Acts as a primary contact for employees for all administrative inquiries including benefit, handbook, and policy questions.
- Prepares, executes, and finalizes internal and external HR paperwork such as FMLA applications, benefit enrollment paperwork and doctor's notes; monitors employee absences throughout.
- Enforces HR compliance throughout the company and makes recommendations for adjustments to policies and practices to the management team.
- Handles employment related inquiries from supervisors, management and employees including FMLA coordination and associated benefits (short term disability, etc.), unemployment claims, garnishments and benefit administration.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- You enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a mostly blue-collar workforce.
- You have at least one year of experience in an HR capacity whether that is through internships or your first entry-level role.
- You have an associate degree in human resources or relevant certificates and experiences in the industry.
