High School Biology Teacher
Job Overview
Herron High School, a highly-rated high school in the Herron Classical Schools network in Indianapolis, has an opening to cover paternity leave for the month of May 2025. The successful candidate would teach 6 sections of AP and Honors biology starting at the beginning of May and cover those classes until school is out in June. Herron follows a Physics First curriculum, so the biology students will be juniors in high school (freshmen take physics, sophomores take chemistry, and juniors take biology). Preferred: teachers with high school biology licensure; candidates with other backgrounds in education will be considered.
Specific objectives and responsibilities of the position include:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Helps prepare scholars for and administers formal and informal assessments.
Implementation of the lesson and intervention plans, including supporting small-group instruction and preparing lesson and classroom materials.
Completes progress monitoring tasks to track scholars' growth over time and the effectiveness of interventions provided.
Creates and maintains working relationships between parents, scholars, and school staff.

Nurture a positive relationship with colleagues.
Demonstrate respect for colleagues.
Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.

Assists with administrative school functions when not in the classroom.
Attendance at scheduled faculty meetings, professional development meetings and other sessions as determined by the Head of School.
Attendance at evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences and Open Houses. The dates of these events are listed on the Master Calendar.
An expectation of professional and ethical conduct and professional growth throughout the year.
Collaboratively works with the administration and others to support the policies, guidelines, and working procedures for Herron High School.
Performs other duties as determined necessary by the administration.
An assignment of 180 days with vacation as approved by the Head of School.
COMPENSATION
Negotiable depending on experience.

Requirements
Qualifications
2 years experience in an academic setting required.
Strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Bachelors' Degree preferred, high school diploma required.
Eligibility to qualify for an Indiana Emergency Permit preferred.
