As Lead FPGA Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing FPGA base images for our weather radar systems. You will focus on developing advanced digital signal processing algorithms and ensuring efficient resource utilization in our FPGA platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of radar signal processing and FPGA architecture to deliver high-performance, reliable systems.
What You'll Do
Design and implement FPGA base images for weather radar signal acquisition and processing systems Develop and optimize DSP algorithms for weather radar applications, including pulse compression, Doppler processing, and clutter reduction Lead efforts to maximize FPGA resource utilization while meeting performance requirements Collaborate with RF, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure integrated radar performance Lead a team of FPGA engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship Create and maintain documentation for FPGA designs, interfaces, and processes Support proposal efforts in the estimation and planning of end-to-end FPGA development Drive verification and validation of FPGA designs to ensure they meet specifications Identify and implement improvements to development processes and methodologies Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred) 7+ years of experience in FPGA design and development Demonstrated expertise in DSP implementation on FPGA platforms Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog for FPGA design Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus Strong understanding of digital design principles and signal processing concepts Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, JESD204B, etc.) Knowledge of radar signal processing techniques Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams Preferred Qualifications
Experience with weather radar systems or meteorological applications Knowledge of radar waveform generation and processing Experience with embedded processing systems (ARM, PowerPC, etc.) Familiarity with hardware/software co-design concepts Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other scripting languages for verification Understanding of RF concepts and radar system architecture
