Position Summary

SOMOS-IWT is looking for a well-rounded, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with experience in the development and manufacture of industrial equipment. You will work within a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls engineers to create and enhance diamond wire saws that are used in industry all over the world. SOMOS-IWT believes in engineers that are capable on a computer and with a wrench.

Minimum Requirements

1. Strong analytical skills
2. Excellent problem-solving skills
3. Takes initiative
4. Relevant technological knowledge
5. Ability to lead and work independently
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills
7. Understanding of Design for Manufacturing concepts
8. Familiarity with GD&T principles
9. Capable of using tools and light fabrication
10. Solidworks experience would be a plus
11. Familiarity with PLC controls a plus
12. Knowledge of CAD or Cam Software a plus
13. Lean Manufacturing knowledge a plus
14. 5+ years of Manufacturing Knowledge

Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Evaluate manufacturing processes for improvements.
2. Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
3. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
4. Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods.
5. Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
6. Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
7. Provide manufacturing engineering information.
8. Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
9. Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
10. Maintain product and process database by writing SOP Procedures.
11. Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
