Position Summary
SOMOS-IWT is looking for a well-rounded, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with experience in the development and manufacture of industrial equipment. You will work within a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls engineers to create and enhance diamond wire saws that are used in industry all over the world. SOMOS-IWT believes in engineers that are capable on a computer and with a wrench.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong analytical skills

- Relevant technological knowledge
- Ability to lead and work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing concepts
- Familiarity with GD&T principles
- Capable of using tools and light fabrication
- Solidworks experience would be a plus
- Familiarity with PLC controls a plus
- Knowledge of CAD or Cam Software a plus
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge a plus
- 5+ years of Manufacturing Knowledge
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Evaluate manufacturing processes for improvements.
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods.
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provide manufacturing engineering information.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
- Maintain product and process database by writing SOP Procedures.
- Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
