Job Summary:
We are hiring a Operations Controller who is responsible for providing financial support to our Operations to enhance profitability through detailed understanding and review of our Manufacturing costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with CFO, COO, and CEO on providing financial leadership, support, and guidance for all direct & indirect operations and product profitability.
- Maintain responsibility for all Operating Cost Centers including compliance, budgeting, forecasting, & cost management processes.
- Collect customer-specific parameters including rebates, freight, configuration, and utilize data to report on customer profitability.
- Identify and support opportunities to drive productivity and cost savings.
- Have full responsibility for all Operating Cost Centers, including compliance, budgeting, forecasting, & cost management.
- Ensure the accuracy of manufacturing costs starting with the bill of materials, item costs, labor routings, labor rates, and overhead assignments.
- Report variances to set standards in a manner that supervisors and managers can understand and take corrective action.
- Analyze and model changes in product design, raw materials, overhead, manufacturing methods, etc., for effects on production costs.
- Analyze and report manufacturing efficiency variances and determine corrective action requirements, ensuring items are correctly classified and all reporting is prepared in accordance with GAAP / IFRS.
- Estimate, track, and report costs associated with new product development and contract manufacturing partners.
- Develop, install, and maintain cost accounting methods and procedures.
- Carry out all aspects of difficult projects that are broad in nature and require originality and/or ingenuity.
- Oversee the completion of projects including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of work; evaluating results.
- Serve as a technical resource to others in resolving complex problems, and orient, train, assign, mentor, and review the work of others.
- Support plant/corporate cost savings programs toward driving YoY productivity improvements.
- Review control procedures over accounting and financial activities, providing guidance to ensure that internal accounting controls are in place to protect company assets.
- Ensure an adequate system of internal control is maintained, and that general ledger accounts are correctly stated, maintaining SOX compliance.
- Oversee all inventory transactions and accuracy.
- Ensure financial controls are in place and followed, maintaining data integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
- 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with plant managers and other business partners with an emphasis on cost analysis.
- Experience in a service environment.
- Experience reviewing and implementing internal controls to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
- Good understanding of process standard cost accounting.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex financial matters to non-finance business partners.
- Proven record of success as a strategically oriented financial manager with knowledge of cost accounting, production planning, and operations analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to seek resources as needed.
- Collaborative interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and drive process improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create complex financial models and spreadsheets (e.g., formulas such as V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables).
- Experience with ERP (SAP S4) system is preferred.
