We are now seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join our team as a Purchasing Manager / Materials Manager.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing Manager / Materials Manager to oversee material sourcing, inventory management, and vendor relationships. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of our Bill of Materials (BOMs), ensuring optimal inventory levels, and supporting the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fabrication, welding, or machining environment and will collaborate closely with our accounting and leadership teams to implement effective material requirements planning and inventory management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

BOM Management:

Oversee and refine Bill of Materials (BOMs) to ensure precision and efficiency in production planning.

Inventory Control:

Conduct cycle counts and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing excess stock.

Sourcing & Vendor Management:

Lead the sourcing of materials, cultivate strong vendor relationships, and negotiate contracts to secure the best value, quality, and reliability.

Manufacturing Process Knowledge:

Apply your understanding of manufacturing processes to make informed purchasing decisions.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all sourced materials and processes adhere to industry standards and regulations, particularly those related to metal fabrication.

Collaboration:

Partner with accounting and company leadership to develop and implement programs for enhanced material requirements planning and process optimization.

ERP/MRP System Management:

Utilize ERP/MRP systems to effectively manage BOMs, inventory, and material planning.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in purchasing, materials management, or supply chain management.

Experience in metals manufacturing, a machine shop, or a related field is highly desired.

Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining and welding.

Proficiency in vendor negotiation and contract management.

Strong analytical skills to forecast material needs and address supply chain challenges.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems for managing BOMs, inventory, and material planning.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Project management skills to effectively juggle multiple priorities.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
