We are recruiting faculty that have achieved excellence in education and are prepared to contribute to our dynamic and innovative undergraduate medical education program.Ideal candidates will be able to participate in one or more of the following activities:AnatomyProvide educational programs in the anatomical sciences, including histology, embryology, and gross anatomy, using a variety of pedagogies such as interactive lectures, laboratories, small group discussions, and team-based classroom activities.Guide and direct learners in studying anatomical sciences through various methods, including prosection, cadaveric dissection, virtual dissection, plastic models, plastinated models, and medical imaging.Clinical SkillsProvide educational programs in clinical skills, including history taking, physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning, using a variety of pedagogies such as interactive lectures, laboratories, small group discussions, and team-based classroom activities.Guide and direct learners in studying clinical skills through various methods, including the use of standardized patients, models, and both low-fidelity and high-fidelity trainers and simulators.All PositionsDedicate approximately 80% of their time and effort to providing medical education, primarily assisting with the delivery Phase 1 of the curriculum, as well as elective opportunities during Phases 2 and 3.Engage in scholarly activity at approximately 20% time and effort (scholarship may include the candidate's primary discipline, medical education, or both domains).Provide supervision and evaluation of medical student performance.Actively participate in ongoing curriculum development and continuous quality improvement.Work collaboratively to longitudinally integrate basic science, anatomical studies, and clinical skills with clinical learning objectives.Adhere to institutional policies and procedures.Service on departmental and institutional committees and task forces as assigned.Integrate the objectives of self-directed learning and clinical reasoning within the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) course.Fulfill administrative duties as negotiated with the Chair of the Department of Medical Education and the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine recognizes that diversity promotes excellence in education, research, and health care. We strive to develop culturally competent graduates to care for the residents of Nevada and the nation.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPhD or MDStrong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversityCredentials must be obtained prior to employment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with innovative teaching methods including problem-based learning (PBL), interactive large and small group presentations, and computer-based interactive teaching programs.Experience with development and delivery of a course or major course components in the relevant basic science disciplines at an LCME-accredited medical school.Experience with computer-based programs for curriculum management such as Canvas.Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to medical education.Previous publications in the medical education literature.Experience in the development of grant proposals and the management of extramural funding.Training or experience in development and delivery of an integrated medical curriculum.The candidate’s educational credentials, terminal degree, experience in an academic medical institution or equivalency will be considered in determining that candidate’s recommended rank.
