Establish and maintain an active research program in the area of expertise. Responsible for teaching medical biochemistry and genetics curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction and those aspects of student life which relate to the educational process. Promote, by precept and example, a general atmosphere within the University of respect for knowledge, thought and inquiry. The faculty member has the right and obligation to participate in scheduled meetings of the General Faculty. Election to the Faculty Council and election or appointment to committees should be considered a privilege and faculty members are encouraged to share in these responsibilities. Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within the University.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Teaching expertise required in the following area: Biochemistry.Teaching expertise preferred in the following area: Genetics.Ability to communicate effectively to either groups or individually.Ability to effectively interact with people of all backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty and staff.Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.Ability to handle a multitude of responsibilities in the College environment.Required Qualifications:EDUCATION: PhD in life sciences or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher learning.EXPERIENCE: 5 years post-doctoral experience teaching medical biochemistry at an accredited institution of higher learning.Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those individuals possessing experience in teaching medical genetics.Key Responsibilities:Research Activities:

Research in the area of expertise, secure extramural funding and train/mentor students/postdocs.Teaching:

Teach medical biochemistry/genetics including assigned lectures and further develop curriculum. Participate in curricular activities including workshops, case wrap-ups, and interprofessional education if requested. Submit 10-15 questions per year to NBOME and attend faculty development workshops.Service:

Provide service as directed by the Dean and/or Chair including interviewing DO students and attending seminars. Faculty are expected to actively engage with, support and advise their assigned students in a variety of ways throughout their medical school career including regular meetings, participation in orientation week and advising activities.Publish 1-2 peer-reviewed manuscripts per year and attend national/international meetings.Work Schedule:
