Site Manager / Fate and Transport Expert (Environmental Engineer 5)

position. This position is located in our

Headquarters

in

Lacey, WA.

Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.As a Site Manager, you’ll support the cleanup of large-scale, complex contaminated sites. You’ll review remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and cleanup action plans, and implement corrective action and compliance monitoring at contaminated sites to support property development, real estate transactions, and more. Your expertise in fate and transport of chemicals in the environment will provide critical technical support to assigned Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) sites. You’ll design engineering analyses to examine the overall fate and transport of chemical contaminants as they move through groundwater, soil, and air. You’ll use your expertise and experience to mentor other engineers and site managers by reviewing their work and offering advice.Agency Mission:

In addition to utilizing expertise in fate and transport of contaminants, you’ll also determine appropriate state-of-the-art field and design practices, such as in-situ stabilization, soil vapor extraction, or permeable reactive barriers at sites as needed.Additional duties as the Site Manager / Fate and Transport Expert will include:Manage and oversee the investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites for compliance with regulations.Provide assistance and mentoring to other engineers.Negotiate, issue, and enforce Agreed Orders, Consent Decrees, Department Enforcement Orders, and Inter-Agency Agreements.Review engineering studies and reports on hazardous waste sites to determine relevant and appropriate state-of-the-art field and design practices and compliance with applicable regulations.Coordinate the planning, implementation, and completion of site-specific projects with remediation technologies.Prepare engineering reports; assist project team members in their analysis and understanding of design plans and specifications.Evaluate the completeness and accuracy of engineering characterization, remedial investigation, and feasibility studies of contaminated sites.Review Remedial Investigation Reports, Site Health and Safety Plans, Engineering and Design Reports, post-cleanup as-built drawings, and soil and groundwater lab reports including QA/QC documentation. Apply MTCA requirements to contaminated sediment sites cleanups and is familiar with CERCLA requirements.Provide in-field oversight of contract engineering work.Required Qualifications:Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time.Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Washington or another state based on registration requirements equivalent to those in Washington, ANDFive years of experience in environmental engineering.NOTE:

Requirements for professional registration as an engineer in the state of Washington are eight years of professional experience (which may include up to four years of college-level engineering education) and successful completion of sixteen hours of professional licensing exams.
