Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic HR Manager to oversee and manage various human resource functions. The ideal candidate will handle employee relations, disciplinary processes, policy interpretation, and HR compliance, while supporting a positive, child-friendly work environment. This role offers the opportunity to influence the growth of the HR department and contribute to the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise and guide staff on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws, ensuring compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other regulations.

Provide leadership in employee relations, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance management.

Develop and implement HR plans, policies, and procedures across all locations.

Manage job descriptions, performance evaluations, and benefits administration.

Lead recruitment efforts and oversee the onboarding process for new hires.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws in MD and VA.

Oversee the organization’s HRIS system and assist with system transitions as needed.

Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and compassion while managing sensitive employee matters.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

5-7 years of HR experience, including employment law, policy interpretation, and employee relations.

Experience with HRIS systems (Paycom preferred) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience working in a nonprofit or child-friendly environment is a plus.
