All positions at the Public Education Department are based in Santa Fe however some may operate through our Albuquerque office based on home address and space availability.

Why does the job exist?

The Literacy Grant Project Manager is responsible for supporting districts, schools and educators (Local Education Entities) in theimplementation of literacy initiatives related to the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Project (CLSD) grants andrelated state-wide literacy requirements. The manager guides all project initiatives including supervision of grant employees,providing technical assistance and professional development to districts and educators, and oversees federal programmatic andbudgetary requirements. The manager will work to assure that federal requirements for funding are met and to assure thatdistrict level project leads in each sub-grantee district are accountable for timely deliverables aligned to grant long and shortterm goals.

How does it get done?

The manager directs all PED grant employees and district sub-grantees in meeting granter requirements. Manager providestechnical assistance and professional development to sub-grantees and leads PED grant employees in the same to assure thatthe activities proposed in the sub-grants are accomplished, primarily by coordinating with sub-grantee project leads. Theposition will be responsible for holding each sub-grantee accountable for their deliverables aligned to the approved sub-grant;short- and long-term results of each of the projects; tracking spending; reporting to PED, and the day-to-day oversight of allaspects of the full CLSD grant and other required statewide literacy initiatives the sub-grantees are accountable to.. Managerapproves and ensures expenditures by sub-grantees are appropriate.

Who are the customers?

Customers include districts personnel (superintendents, principals, administrators, teachers), RECs and other external partners,and agency personnel across all bureaus and divisions.

Ideal Candidate

Preferred applicant will have working knowledge and experience in project management and large scope grants.Expertise in literacy development on the birth to 12th grade continuum is important.Preferred applicant will be a certified educator (any age band k-12) in the state of NM at the administrative &/or teacher Level 2or above.

Minimum Qualification

A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

•If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
