Position Type: Technology Date Posted: 9/13/2024 Location: LEARN Central Office LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a full-time Student Information System (SIS) Support Specialist opening. General Scope of Responsibility The Student Information System (SIS) Support Specialist will provide technical and administrative support for the district's SIS platform, primarily PowerSchool. This role involves managing student data, overseeing state reporting, maintaining the PSIS system, and providing support to district personnel during peak times or for special projects. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy, facilitating data transfers, managing Clever application integrations, and assisting with requests related to student data. Responsibilities Manage and respond to PowerSchool support tickets from staff and districts. Conduct state reporting, including monthly attendance reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Serve as a contact for PSIS (Public School Information System) and respond to inquiries from the state. Perform daily maintenance of the PSIS system to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Support districts, both remotely and on-site, as needed during critical times of the school year or for special projects. Manage student data, including overseeing data delivery and enrollment information in the SIS. Address student data requests within LEARN and support basic to moderate-level requests from other staff. Possess a working knowledge of school processes related to the SIS, including attendance, grading, and reporting, to provide effective support. Manage Clever applications, including PowerSchool data integration with Clever, ensuring data synchronization between SIS and Clever-connected applications. Provide support and troubleshoot issues related to applications connected to Clever. Assist with data cleanup efforts based on tasks assigned by the SIS Coordinator. Experience, Knowledge, and Training : Experience with PowerSchool or a similar Student Information System. Familiarity with state reporting requirements, particularly PSIS. Strong data management skills, with the ability to ensure accuracy and integrity of student data. Good communication skills to interact with district staff, state contacts, and other stakeholders. Ability to provide on-site support when necessary. Experience managing Clever application integrations and data synchronization between SIS and connected applications. Basic understanding of public-school processes such as grading, attendance, and reporting. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Training : Previous experience in public educational or school district environment. Knowledge of student data reporting requirements and state compliance. Technical troubleshooting skills for managing SIS platforms and integrated applications. Experience with Clever or similar single sign-on (SSO) and rostering platforms.
