The IT Data Steward ensures the quality, integrity, and governance of data assets within the department. They work closely with data management teams, business stakeholders, and IT professionals to establish and maintain data standards, policies, and processes.

The IT Data Steward position will:

Include data profiling, data cleansing, metadata management, and promote a data-driven culture throughout the organization;Assist the HCA to effectively leverage data to enhance Healthcare Services, health equity, and drive success in New Mexico.How does it get done?

This position's collaboration is key in maintaining data security classifications to safeguard sensitive data and ensure its appropriate use. They will work in coordination with relevant stakeholders to establish and enforce data security protocols, protecting confidential information and upholding data privacy standards within the Health Care Authority.

The IT Data Steward is responsible for:

Conducting thorough data profiling and analysis to evaluate the quality, completeness, and accuracy of data assets within the HCA. This involves managing the data life cycle, ensuring data synchronization across systems, and continuously monitoring data quality through regular audits to maintain high standards of data integrity and reliability;Actively identifying, reporting, analyzing, and resolving data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness;Proactively addressing data discrepancies and anomalies, this position plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall accuracy and consistency of data assets utilized by the organization;Managing and maintaining the 'golden record' for clients and providers, establishing a single, authoritative source of truth for key data entities;Maintaining accurate and up-to-date golden records, this role ensures that critical data related to clients and providers is consistently reliable and accessible across the organization.Leading changes and revisions to master data, meta-data, data dictionaries, and data hierarchies within established guidelines, by overseeing these modifications, this position ensures that data structures and definitions remain consistent and aligned with evolving business requirements and industry standards;Who are the customers?

This position will report regularly to the Inter-Agency Data Governance Council and collaborate with IT Security, Legal Counsel, and Data Owners regarding the safety of data within HCA control or pertaining to data sharing requests.Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has:

Demonstrated project experience designing and implementing data governance initiatives in a management roles;Proficient understanding of data management concepts, data governance frameworks, and data quality principles;Expert knowledge in data profiling and data analysis techniques using tools like SQL, Excel, or data profiling software;Expert knowledge of metadata management and data dictionary tools with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data quality issues;Familiarity with data-related technologies and tools such as ETL, data warehouses, and data lakes and knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker and;Data analysis and manipulation skills through data science languages/tools such as Python, R, JavaScript, and SQL.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Informatics, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field and two (2) years of experience in master data management, data analytics, data engineering, or a related area. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in master data management, data analytics, or data engineering totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Office setting with extensive computer usage, may require after hours work, and some travel
