The IT Data Engineer Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining the infrastructure and systems required for data storage, processing, and analysis. This is a crucial role in building and managing the data pipelines that enable efficient and reliable data integration, transformation, and delivery for all data users across the department.

The IT Data Engineer Manager will:

Design and develope data pipelines that extract data from various sources, transform it into the desired format, and load it into the appropriate data storage systems;Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to optimize models and algorithms for data quality, security, and governance;Integrate data from different sources, including databases, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems;Ensure data consistency and integrity during the integration process, performing data validation and cleaning as needed;Transform raw data into a usable format by applying data cleansing, aggregation, filtering, and enrichment techniques;Ensure data engineering policies meet SOC2 compliance requirements;Optimize data pipelines and data processing workflows for performance, scalability, and efficiency and;Help build DevOps project structures to help standardize project best practices.How does it get done?

The IT data Engineer Manager is responsible for:

Designing and enabling a modern cloud-based data lake supporting structured and semi-structured data in native form, as needed;Monitoring and tuning data systems, identifies and resolves performance bottlenecks, and implements caching and indexing strategies to enhance query performance;Implementing data quality checks and validations within data pipelines to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data;Taking authority, responsibility, and accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance;Working with board members and other executives to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset and;Establishing the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications, and automated decision making.Who are the customers?

This position will collaborate daily with the data engineer team, data analysts and like roles and security to provide the analytical community the means to support leadership in making informed decisions.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has:

Project experience developing and maintaining data warehouses or data lakes in big data solutions (e.g. Snowflake);Knowledge in Apache technologies such as Kafka, Airflow, and Spark to build scalable and efficient data pipelines;Ability to design, build, and deploy data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support AI, ML, and BI;Strong skills in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C/C++ and tools such as SQL, R, SAS, or Excel;The ability to collaborate within and across teams of different technical knowledge to support delivery and educate end users on data products;Expert problem-solving skills, including debugging skills, allowing the determination of sources of issues in unfamiliar code or systems, and the ability to recognize and solve repetitive problems and;Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.

Minimum Qualification

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related quantitative field and seven (7) years of combined experience in cloud engineering, cloud migration, data engineering, data integration, streaming data development, data warehousing, data curation, data analysis, design, storage, and data protection and security. At least two (2) years of which must be leading/supervising a data management team. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related quantitative field and/or direct experience in master data management, data analytics, or data engineering cloud engineering totaling eleven (11) years, including two (2) years supervisory experience, may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Office setting with extensive computer usage, may require after hours work, and some travel
