POSITION SUMMARY:
The labor position is the entry level position for all the crews. Most of the time this position is for cleaning up around the plant and other duties as assigned so the operation can run smoothly.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Perform a wide variety of duties in general manual laborer work at plants, offices, yards, and quarries. Work will require repetitive heavy lifting, shoveling, handwork, climbing, and performing work at different heights.Assist in any equipment operation and servicing when needed using basic tools to accomplish the work such as shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows, etc.Comply with company General Conduct and Safety Rules.Knows and understands that you must clean and dispose of waste materials, debris, residue from, on top of, under and out of different locations throughout the plantKnows and understands that you must fill in or operate any equipment and assist operators as assigned.Knows and understands that can operate the water truck, sweeper, or vacuum truck as needed.Report any potential operational or safety problems to supervision.Knows and understands that you will need to assist in maintenance, repair, and installation of new or rebuilt machinery and equipment.Knows and understands that you may be required to cut grass, weeds, trim bushes, and hedges and perform general landscape work.Knows and understands that you must clean out kilns.Knows and understands that you may need to help load and unload railcars, trucks, or any other vehicles as assigned.Knows and understands that you must be able to operate a forklift both safely and efficiently.Knows and understands that you must comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations.Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner, strictly adhering to Company and governmental safety rules and regulations.Perform general clean-up in all operational areas of the plant.Perform repetitive lifting of 50-100 or more pounds when necessary.Operate front-end loader and dump truck for clean-up work.Performs all other duties as assigned.
Safe Quality Food (SQF)
Ensure a SQF workplace and in regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, , Part 507)Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.Ensure employees have a clear understanding of expected safety and SQF performance and the required training.Ensure proper training programs are implemented for new employees and continued for existing employees.Actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.
ATTRIBUTES:
Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and peers.Must have a telephone and be receptive to shift work, seven days a week.Must be available for call outs to the plant as needed.PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Must be physically able to perform work assigned.Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.REQUIRED EDUCATION:
