Job Description
College of EducationNature of WorkThe College of Education seeks an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Business Support Specialist I to provide general support that includes a broad range of responsibilities for the College. We are looking for a positive, responsible, proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and an interest in supporting all College faculty and staff in pursing our mission and vision of promoting student success, research, community engagement, and achieving inclusive excellence. Position reports to the Senior Business Specialist. A 20% remote work opportunity is available upon demonstrating continued satisfactory performance.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will:Perform a variety of independent, specialized business support duties such as procurement, invoicing, expense reimbursements, and assisting with class scheduling and hiring part-time employees.Successfully perform multiple administrative tasks simultaneously in an environment with frequent interruptions and deadlinesExecute, document and report on business and fiscal operations using established templates and proceduresRecognize and solve problems that occur, sometimes without supervisory approvalWork with various vendors, customers, internal or external constituencies to complete complex projectsAssist with advising faculty and staff on UM and campus policies and procedures related to financial and hiringPerform and track budget projections for the department(s) as assigned by Senior Business SpecialistAssist with the processing and tracking of student scholarshipsAssist with scheduling facilities and catering for events, meetings and programsAssist with managing and coordinate program application processes; assist with student recruitment efforts as neededPerform other duties as assignedApplicants must be authorized to work in the United States. M-F; 8am-5pm
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessaryPreferred Qualifications
Bachelor's DegreeTwo years of work experience in a fast-paced and varied environment specializing in administrative supportRelated work experience in an institute of higher educationDemonstrated experience in Microsoft Office applications and Google suiteExcellent written and oral communication skillsSuperior organizational skills and process orientationExceptional attention to detailDemonstrated problem solving skills
Anticipated Hiring Range
Pay commensurate with education and experience.Hiring Range: $16.50-17.40 per hourGrade: GGS-006University Title: Business Support Specialist I
