**Job Description:**
- This position is part of a medical overflow float pool, handling patients from all levels of acuity ranging from ICU to Medical-Surgical.- The nurse will float to other departments or campuses if needed and may be required to assist in the Emergency Department.- Patient ratios can go up to 1:6, while typical ICU ratios are 1:4.- Potential patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to, respiratory failure, post-cardiac arrest, severe sepsis, congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias, seizures, gastrointestinal (GI) bleeds, and overdoses.- The role involves post-surgical monitoring and managing patients requiring complex medical and ventilator care.- Low volume patient populations may include unstable angina, cerebral vascular accidents, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).- Responsibilities include cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and interventions in case of respiratory or cardiac arrest.- The nurse must float among various campuses as needed and work every other weekend and holidays as required.- Experience with EPIC is preferred.- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines are required, with medical or religious exemptions only.
