Tempus is looking for an ambitious accountant to support growing operations in Chicago. This position will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting functions and month-end close process.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Supporting day-to-day accounting functions
Responsible for maintaining and reconciling bank statements
Performing month-end close tasks and preparing financial statement analysis
Preparing balance sheet account reconciliations
Reviewing and analyzing general ledger transactions and accounts
Preparing supporting documentation for financial statement audit and tax provisions / returns
Assisting manager with preparation of workpapers for tax filings
Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained
Conducting ad-hoc analysis to support leadership requests
Driving continuous improvement in Accounting processes
Qualifications:
1+ years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within finance, consulting, or technology
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Tax, Audit, or Finance
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced MS Excel skills (Logical Formulas, Lookups, Pivot Tables; experience with Visual Basic and/or SQL a plus but not required)
Exceptional customer service skills; cooperative; strong team‐player
An eye for the details and the ability to deliver accurate output in a timely manner
Strong organizational skills and comfort with managing multiple work streams
High level of self‐motivation with the ability to manage priorities, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and work independently
Poised and works well under pressure and in a fast-paced changing environment
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Public accounting experience preferred
A champion for data accuracy and quality for the Accounting team
