Under general direction, for the BFTV Cluster departments of Food Science & Technology, Biological and Agricultural Engineering (AET Major), Viticulture & Enology, provide day-to-day academic advising support; conduct course management, including all aspects of instructional support, such as scheduling, TA hiring, evaluations, grading, and logistics; manage outreach and events, including budget and financial management; provide leadership in process development; and provide scholarship and fellowship management.

High school diploma or equivalent experience.Experience working with students in a degree-oriented program at a university/college level, including experience with academic needs and concerns of students, assessing progress toward degree, and maintaining confidentiality of student records.Experience creating or revising curricula, course scheduling and coordinating resources allocated to programs (e.g., block grants and TA funds); planning, implementing, and evaluating programs (e.g., recruitment, outreach, orientation, development, special events and training); and using technology tools in a student services or educational setting (e.g., databases, web-based programs and on-line tracking systems, student information systems).Experience with the student advising process, goals and protocols to advocate for, and guide graduate and undergraduate programs.Experience developing informational materials, creating reports, and answering correspondence with the interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate and interact with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff.Experience projecting cost estimates and, budgets, including performing calculations (e.g. GPAs) and analyzing numerical data.Organizational, time-management, and information management skills to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines with attention to accuracy and detail.Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate and interpret complex policies, procedures, and reference materials; to recommend solutions on a variety of issues; and to analyze new and existing policies to develop procedures to meet requirements.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Banner, DESII, ICMS, and other related campus and UC database systems.Student advising experience in a university setting, including knowledge of student services and resources available.Event Planning.Knowledge of campus, department and/or college requirements, resources, policies and procedures to interpret complex policies.Knowledge of State and Federal Laws governing confidentiality of student records and of UC policies regarding privacy of inform.Key Responsibilities

BFTV is a large administrative cluster, providing administrative and technical support for teaching, research and outreach to the faculty, staff, and students of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Food Science & Technology, and Viticulture & Enology within the two colleges of CA&ES and COE. These departments and the Cluster have a combined estimated annual operating budget for teaching, research, outreach, and support of $123MM, composed of state, federal, and extramural funds, endowments, gifts, and sales income. The Cluster supports 60 faculty, 110 staff, 140 other academics and approximately 600 combined undergraduate and graduate students annually.
