Under general direction of the Chief Administration Officer (CAO) responsible for organizational leadership and high-level analytical support to the CAO and Yellow Cluster departments in the L&S Division of Social Sciences including Psychology Department,Philosophy Department, Center for Mind and Brain (CMB), Science and Technology Studies (STS), the Cognitive Science Program, Center for Artificial Intelligence and Experimental Futures (CAIEF), andCenter for Science and Innovation Studies (CSIS).
Serve as Finance Manager for the Grants Unit who are responsible for providing administrative support for research activities including fiscal policy, budgeting, funds management, sponsored research compliance, and financial transactions. Oversee financial operations and management of all grants and contracts administration functions including interpreting and applying university regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to financial administration; budget development and analysis; long- and short-range fiscal planning; and compliance monitoring.
Oversee and monitor funding and expenditures of multiple accounts with varying funding sources including general funds, federal and state funds, private gifts and grants, endowments, self-supporting activities, inter-campus funds, student fees, and reserve funds. Act as lead and primary advisor for financial, sponsored research, and supervise fiscal officers who provide pre- and post-award support for sponsored projects and manage faculty accounts includingpurchasing, accounts payable/receivable, travel/ entertainment, and ledger reconciliation functions.
The Finance Manager may serve as backup for the Chief Administrative Officer in their absence.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Experience recruiting, selecting, training, assigning, supervising, evaluating and providing development opportunities for staff.Experience performing high-level analytical work, analyzing complex information, performing independent research, presenting complex data to facilitate decision-making and making strategic recommendations.Experience preparing financial reports, developing financial projections (long and short-term), performing budgetary planning, developing and monitoring budgetary processes.Experience researching and interpreting a variety of laws, regulations and policies pertaining to research administration.Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UC payroll accounts, travel and entertainment policies, and UC accounts receivable/payable, gift processing and management.Experience with Aggie Enterprise.Experience leading teams, setting direction, developing goals and strategic planningExtensive knowledge of federal, state and private grant regulations, policies and procedures.Interpersonal and communication skills to clearly, diplomatically and effectively interact with individuals of varying perspectives and backgrounds to research and secure information, resolve problems, and coordinate projects.Writing, editing and proofreading skills to prepare clear, accurate reports appropriate for the intended audience.Key Responsibilities

Serves seven independent units in the College of Letters and Science Social Sciences that are clustered for administrative purposes: Psychology Department, Philosophy Department, Center for Mind and Brain (CMB), Science and Technology Studies Department (STS),Center for Science and Innovation Studies (CSIS), Center for ArtificialIntelligence and Experimental Futures (CAIEF), and Cognitive Science. The units consists of a Department Chair & 2 Vice Chairs (Psychology), Department Chair (Philosophy), Co-Directors (CMB), Department Chair (STS), Director of CSIS, Director of CAIEF, and Director of Cognitive Science, approximately 70 Senate faculty, 35 Academic Federation faculty, 100+ non-Senate academic employees of varying titles (Graduate Student Researchers, Teaching Assistants,Visiting Scholars, Postdoctoral Scholars, Lecturers), 150+ graduate students, 3200+ undergraduate majors, and 23 staff FTE.
Since the Centers draw faculty from different colleges/divisions it requires that this position is conversant and knowledgeable about the many varying units.
