Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for complex secretarial or clerical duties; prepares complex reports; maintains computerized files; assists with budget preparation; maintains employee personnel records; and performs related duties as required
Duties and Responsibilities
Directly assists with providing department services to other County employees and the publicAssists with special projects using independent decision-making and judgmentMaintains statistics and develops complex reportsPrepares requisitions and purchase orders, verifies invoices and authorizes vendor paymentsMaintains and updates personnel records such as attendance and worker's compensationAssists with budget preparation and other related accounting functionsResponds to general and complex questions and complaints regarding department or workMay supervise, lead or train administrative or clerical support personnelMay develop office administration proceduresMay order and maintain supplies/fixed assetsMay perform general administrative/clerical tasks such as copying, answering telephones and updating/ maintaining filesMay open and distribute mailPerforms related duties as requiredMinimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or a General Education development (GED) certificate, and four (4) years administrative experience in an office environment; or equivalent combination of education and experienceGood knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation; good knowledge of office proceduresSkill in performing basic mathematical calculations; skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipmentAbility to accurately enter data and file information; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, and the publicMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testMay be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweekWork Environment and Physical Demands:
Constantly working in indoor conditionsOccasionally moves items weighing up to 15 poundsOccasionally moves about the officeFrequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate informationConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machineryPositions self to perform essential functionsMust be able to remain in a stationary position
