Reference #: 2022521 The UEIS External Relations team at Carnegie Mellon University is searching for a full-time, fixed-term Graphic Designer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and dynamic work environment. The Graphic Designer will supply creative strategies and design solutions for various collateral, campus environments, websites, email marketing, presentations, photo/video direction and event communications.
University Libraries, ETC, IDeATe, and Sustainability Initiative (UEIS) make up the portfolio of units reporting to Helen and Henry Posner, Jr. Dean of the University Libraries and Director of Emerging and Integrative Media Initiatives, Keith Webster. The Graphic Designer is responsible for providing graphic design, ideas, and solutions for all the units within the UEIS portfolio. Reporting to the Associate Dean, External Relations, UEIS, this position will deliver to the highest level of design and production standards, guidelines, and processes.
Core responsibilities will include:
Directing and managing the design, concepts, and creation of marketing assets, environmental designs, publications, specialty products and email and web site designs to increase awareness of and positively influence perception of the units that make up UEIS.
Working closely with the members of the External Relations team, as well as internal clients as represented by the faculty and staff of UEIS units.
Developing templates and systems for design solutions that can be used by non-designers within the community of UEIS employees to ensure consistent high-quality creation of materials.
Leading and/or actively participating in team meetings.
Pursuing on-going training in the field and demonstrating resourcefulness and awareness of current trends to create innovative design campaigns.
Prioritizing work based on project needs, job requirements, etc.
Maintaining a high level of quality regarding design trends and technologies
Organizing and directing all creative and production work to meet deadlines - working closely with the Project Management Office and the Business Office.
Identifying and managing vendor relations.
Performing related duties as assigned.
You must demonstrate:
A solid understanding of measuring project successes to develop standard practices for future projects.
A tech savvy mindset, keeping current with various design and office software, and demonstrating a high level of proficiency with these software/tools.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, excellent researching and analytical skills, strong reasoning and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent organizational skills.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree required.
3 years of graphic design experience required.

Fixed Term: This is a fixed-term position with an estimated duration of 24 months.
