The role:

We are seeking a dedicated

procurement operations manager

to become a key member of the OPO management team. In this role, you will lead, direct, manage and review the agency's procurement functions and needs. You will also play a critical role in enhancing our current business practices and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation.

Most of this work may be conducted remotely at an alternate worksite with full access to the needed operating systems and technology. However, there are many times that the work will be required to be performed at the Salem office building.

A day in the life:Develop, implement, monitor, allocate resources and sets priorities.Recommend and implement revisions to statewide contracting laws, rules, policies and procedures.Manage staff responsible for procurement activities and transactions.Develop, implement and evaluate strategic goals for staff.Manage the activities of the staff by creating and maintaining a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.Guide and advise on developing and implementing policy, business practices, new technology or other infrastructure elements.Develop and conduct briefings or hearings and draft reports to support various initiatives and policy changes, procedures or business practices.Work with the Chief Procurement Officer and the OPO Management Team to design and implement projects that focus on effective change management strategies.Identify informational needs, procurement goals and data compilation methods through timely partnership with internal and external staff.Maintain current and broad knowledge of the procurement field by conducting appropriate research.Participate in the preparation and implementation of the biennial budget for the Branch. Minimum qualifications:

Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;

OR

three years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
